Here we are, two weeks away from Christmas and three from New Year’s Eve. Holiday gatherings, crowded stores and travel locations and family events are upon us. These collections of people in close quarters can be challenging for those of us who are empaths or who have difficult relationships with the other people involved.
To that end, I wanted to offer you some of my top essential oil recommendations for boundaries and protection of your energy. These oils may help you feel strong in your power, help you say “no” and also give you a feeling of barriers between you and those who trigger strong emotional reactions. I’ve also included an oil that helps bring in patience, soothes elevated moods and tender hearts.
Here are my recommendations:
Cypress: This oil is the oil of flow, it encourages energetic movement to and from where you diffuse it. I strongly suggest you open a door or window, for as long as you can in the cold weather, to let the energy flow in and out of your space. This oil is a good one to use if there is sticky energy, if someone puts their emotional ick on you or if you just need to change the flow of things at your home. It is a topical (skin) and aromatic oil ONLY. Please dilute for sensitive skin.
Melaleuca or Tea tree: This oil is THE oil for energetic boundaries. It feels like it forms an energetic force field around you to keep you protected. I like to use this in large crowds or if I know I’m going to be with people who are particularly disruptive to my energy. My suggestion is put it on your solar plexus (the area between the bottoms of your ribs and your belly button) and on wrist creases. This oil should be diluted for sensitive skin and can be diffused. One note on Tea Tree, it is not an oil for animals so please do not use extensively around or topically on dogs/cats or any small animals. Wash your hands after using it before petting your pets.
Clove: Clove is the oil of protection. It helps you stand firm in your boundaries and is a protective herbal oil. It is a potent third chakra, power chakra, oil so if you feel like you let others push you around, Clove is your friend. It reminds you that you have got the power. It is a dilute for topical use oil and it can be taken internally and diffused. A little goes a long way with this powerhouse so be cautious. Don’t have clove? Try OnGuard.
Forgive: I wanted to make sure I included an emotional support oil for difficult family members, colleagues and situations. Forgive is a beautiful blend of woodsy and citrus oils. It helps soothe difficult emotional hearts and reminds us to forgive others AND ourselves. I like to diffuse it when emotions are high and I watch them softly calm down with only a few breaths. It is a dilute for sensitive skin and aromatic oil only. Try rolling a drop or two on your heart or diffusing when difficult family come to visit. They’ll never suspect a thing and you will be emotionally at ease.•
Other oils to have on hand are Balance for grounding, Serenity for sleep, and Helichrysum for tender hearts.
While the holidays can make for challenging situations, don’t worry. Your essential oils can keep you prepared, at the ready and smooth the edges of what may come. I created a little collection for you so you can have all of these on hand before the holidays arrive. PROTECTION COLLECTION**
May your journeys, gatherings and holidays be protected and energetically free.
